Electronic games, also called computer games or video games, are interactive games operated by computer circuitry. They are played on machines that include general-purpose shared and personal computers, arcade consoles, video consoles connected to home television sets, handheld game machines and mobile devices such as cellular phones.
Many of these games provide a social setting where players can interact with others and learn how to work together in virtual worlds. This can help develop skills that can be used in real-world careers, such as problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Improves Manual Dexterity
Gaming is a worldwide phenomenon that’s based on the use of electronic devices, from arcade games to video games to mobile phone games. The industry is estimated to be worth around $90 billion a year and has become one of the largest industries in recent years.
Experts say that controller-based games can enhance manual dexterity. In fact, a study of surgeons showed that those who played video games were faster at performing advanced procedures and made 37 percent fewer mistakes than their peers who did not play.

In a recent study, medical students were asked to perform a task involving catheter-wire manipulation in a mechanical aortic model. Researchers found that those who regularly played computer games for >10 hours per week were able to complete the task faster than those who did not.
Improves Memory
Electronic games include many types of video games, board games, and other forms of computer-generated entertainment. They often rely on flashing lights or electronic sounds and can be played with one player or with multiple players simultaneously.
Video games that require strategic thinking, planning and logic improve memory by training the brain to be more flexible in updating and monitoring new information. This can be especially beneficial for gamers who play first-person shooter games, which often involve rapid responses and fast-moving situations.

A recent study from the University of California, Irvine found that playing complex 3D games for 30 minutes a day can increase grey matter in the right hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for spatial navigation and cognitive performance. This increase is similar to the brain growth seen in rodents who are forced to explore their environment regularly.
Improves Attention
Using brain imaging, researchers found that playing Electronic Gaming improves attention skills. In a study, gamers improved their visual selective attention (the brain’s ability to focus on relevant information and ignore irrelevant details), after just one hour of playing an action video game.
The participants in the study were expert players of League of Legends, which is a typical real-time strategy game where teams battle against each other for control of towers. They had played for at least two years and were ranked among the top 7% of players.

Non-expert gamers, who had less than half a year’s experience in the game and were ranked in the lowest 11% of players, also demonstrated improved attention after gaming. They were able to concentrate on the visual stimuli more easily and displayed faster reaction times than the expert gamers.
The study showed that playing an action game can help improve attention, as well as reduce anxiety levels and sleepiness. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution.
Improves Multitasking
If you’re a gamer, you’ll know that playing your favourite games often requires you to focus on multiple tasks at the same time. These tasks can include looking at the enemy on the screen, keeping track of your health, ammo and other statistics, as well as moving your character.
Researchers at UCSF have found that video games can help improve multitasking ability in healthy older adults. After four weeks of training, subjects aged 60-85 who played a game called NeuroRacer experienced improved cognitive functions like short-term memory and long-term focus.

These benefits can carry over to real-life situations, where it is essential for people to be able to juggle several different tasks at once. This is because it allows them to pay attention to each task for longer periods of time and shift their focus quickly.
Electronic gaming is a rapidly growing industry that has become accessible to people of all ages. With a vast array of games available, electronic gaming has something for everyone. In the morning, playing games can be a great way to start the day, and here are five fun games to try:
